Why Centrifugal Force is the Best for Packing Prerolls
Share
Packing prerolls at scale is no easy undertaking, especially if you're passionate about offering the highest quality product to your customer. When trying to produce large volumes of prerolls, there is a limited selection of manufacturing systems that will help you do so. Due to the variety of strains, varying weights and moisture levels, achieving the perfect density and consistency in every joint can be extremely difficult, even with the equipment and machines that are currently available. Some producers and operators swear by certain packing methods, but we have found that there is one technique that makes the most sense, and seems to stand above the rest. This method is centrifugal force.
Centrifugal force is the force that acts on an object moving in a circular path.
For example, when you spin something around, it experiences a force that pulls it away from the center of the rotation. Think about the “Gravitron” ride commonly the found at any carnival or county fair. Recall standing on the wall while it spins around? Well this real phenomenon has multiple practical applications, like packing pre-rolled joints!
Even Flower Distribution
When you pack a pre-rolled joint, you're trying to get an even distribution of cannabis flower throughout the paper cone. You don't want it to be too loose, or the joint will burn too quickly and unevenly. The uneven burn along the side of a cone is usually due to air pockets, and is referred to as the "canoeing effect", which is something your customers will absolutely hate.
Using centrifugal force to pack a joint causes the cannabis to spread out evenly, filling any gaps and creating a consistent density throughout the joint. This method is particularly effective because it ensures that the cannabis is packed tightly enough to burn evenly, but not so tightly that it's difficult to draw smoke through.
Controlling Preroll Density
Achieving a perfect pack in every preroll, regardless of production volume, requires a particular type of machine that makes it possible to customize the preroll density for every pack of every strain. This means that it is less ideal to be using a manufacturing system or process that can't be modified or calibrated to account for the varying weights, particle sizes, and moisture levels of every new batch of flower.
By utilizing a centrifuge system, we are able to account for the variance in strains simply by adjusting the speed and time of a packing spin cycle. By increasing the force of the centrifuge, we can achieve a tighter pack. This is extremely important, because often times the flower can be quite moist, and if it's more moist it will be more difficult to pack, whereas dry flower would require less force and be much easier.
At this time, no other manufacturing system, including the fully automated machines, can achieve the same results as the centrifuge system.
Less Product Damage
Another huge advantage of using centrifugal force is that it's a gentle method that doesn't damage the product. Tamping, along with using machines that violently shake and vibrate, puts pressure on the prerolls, which can damage the delicate cones and ultimately will produce a very inconsistent product. By using centrifugal force, you can pack your joint without damaging the buds or the cones, ensuring no dents and your customers will get the full flavor and effects of the cannabis with a nice even burn.
Simply put, centrifugal force is truly the best way to pack pre-rolled joints which is why we are so excited to offer the Preroll Centrifuge System. It ensures an even distribution of cannabis throughout the paper, creates a consistent density that burns evenly, and is gentle enough to preserve the flavor and effects of the cannabis.
The adoption of centrifugal force technology in pre-roll production represents a game-changing innovation for the cannabis industry. By delivering enhanced product quality, increased efficiency, reduced labor costs, improved worker safety, and greater flexibility, this method outperforms traditional techniques such as the knockbox.
As the market for pre-rolled joints continues to grow, embracing centrifugal force technology will be crucial for producers seeking to stay ahead of the competition and deliver a superior product to consumers.
